myCampus Overview

Attendance management has always been a concern for educational institutions. Issues in managing absenteeism, tardiness in school or in class have always been at the expense of large amounts of money on a system that offers limited returns or even more unfortunately, at the expense of the teacher’s considerable workload. Identity sharing or impersonation as an illegal means of clocking in study/laboratory work hours for course accreditation has also been highlighted as an inherent problem that has not been properly addressed. These issues affect institutions of different sizes and on different levels from district primary schools to Ivy-league institutions.

Traditionally, these issues revolved around deriving fair and accurate attendance transcripts and grade, to prevent instances of cheating or even to lessen the teacher’s workload but recent events in history have added the focus of security and accountability of student whereabouts into what was once a seemingly innocent chore of attendance taking.

myCampus is the tool for education institutes to overcome their current attendance-taking model! Teachers no longer have to worry and waste time tabulating students' attendance and can now turn their attention to more important issues!

myCampus aims at addressing all if not most of the issues mentioned above. Whilst it does not do away with the need for vigilance and monitoring, it does help to make this traditional chore easier and more effective. Unlike traditional methodology or solutions that addresses attendance issues with a “piece meal” approach. myCampus employs the best of information technology and biometrics technology to offer institutions a holistic solution to an age old issue. In addition, this system is designed with a simple GUI (Graphic User Interface) so that it can be utilised by anybody with minimal training needed.

Generate attendance reports, late-comers reports, absenteeism reports and etc at a click of a button. This means that the school administrators do not have to worry about attendance registers not being returned to the office or in the event of an emergency, an “up to the second” attendance report can be printed to facilitate verifying the whereabouts of the students!

Biometric scanners can also double up as access control devices, coupled with the myCampus solution, will allow administrators to restrict or monitor students’ movement in the institution. It can also be deployed to manage the attendance of requisite course or lab study time. As the system requires biometric logins, students will not be able to attend on behalf or borrow another’s identity to fulfill the requisite!

While the system is designed as a standalone system that will grow with the organisation’s needs, it is also able to integrate with the institution’s backend investments to enhance the solution. One example is to integrate the system to the teacher’s email facilities, where the attendance reports can be emailed to the form teacher complete with the names and numbers of the absentees for subsequent follow-up. It can also be integrated to the institution’s SMS gateway to send a short message to notify the parents when their children reaches or leaves the school compounds!
